Tomato Podimas
Tomato Podimas is made with tomatoes and red gram dhal. This south Indian recipe, tomato podimas can be easily prepared and served with rice and chappathi.

Tomato Podimas Ingredients
Red gram dhal - 1 cup
Small onions -15 (cut into halves)
Tomatoes (finely choped) -5
Green chillies - 4
Garlic - 2
Sambar chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds -1/2 teaspoon
Urad dhal - 1/2 teaspoon
Cooking Oil -3 teaspoons
Tomato Podimas Preparing Method
1. Pressure cook the dhal with water and turmeric powder
2. Heat the oil in a kadai, add the mustard seeds, urad dhal and curry leaves
3. Add the chopped onions, garlic and green chillies. Fry onions till golden brown, then add the tomatoes and salt.
4. Mash the potatoes as it gets cooked in the kadai.
5. When tomatoes are juicy after mashing add the dhal, turmeric powder and sambar chili powder. Add enough water to cook
6. Cook until it thickens. Then garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice.
