Ingredients
Green gram dhal - 1 cup
Onions -2 (chopped)
Tomatoes - 4 (chopped)
Green Chillies -4 (chopped lengthwise)
Tamarind - 1/2 cup (see cookery tips)
Turmeric - 1/4 teaspoon
Asafetida - 1/4 teaspoon
Salt to taste
Curry leaves - few
To saute :
Mustard - 1/2 teaspoon
Urad dhal - 1 teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Red chillies -2
Oil - 3 teaspoons
Preparing Method
1. Wash green gram dhal in a bowl and add water and turmeric powder. Simmer the flame and cook
2. Once the dhal gets cooked add the onions, chopped tomatoes, green chillies and salt to it
3. Add enough water and allow it to cook for few minutes
4. Add the tamarind concentrate to it
5. Add asafetida powder and allow it to cook until cooked flavour comes
6. Heat the oil in a kadai and add mustard, urad dhal, fenugreek seeds, red chillies and allow it to splutter
7. Add curry leaves to it. Then mix with the cooked sambar
8. Serve with idly, dosai and rice
