TNSTC clarifies on bus fare
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Coimabtore, has announced that ordinary buses will be operated along with semi-low-floor buses. Beginning February 1, the TNSTC introduced two-hundred new semi-low-floor buses on city roads replacing the ordinary old buses. The fare structure in semi-low-floor buses were higher than the ordinary fare. The minimum in these new buses were Rs. 5 which is Rs. 3 more than the ordinary bus fare. This resulted in agitation by students and public. The issue was taken to the notice of the Government and the Transport Minister had instructed restoration of ordinary buses too on all routes.
Ordinary buses will be operated on all the routes and semi-low-floor buses would be operated in addition to that. The choice of use of bus would be left to the public, a release from Managing Director, S. Paulraj said.
