COIMBATORE: Joint Co-ordination Council of college teachers took out a rally here on Wednesday in protest against the Government's proposal to convert some of the Government colleges into unitary universities.

According to a release, the rally was to stress that the conversion of Government aided colleges into unitary universities would not only affect the students, but also the teachers and employees, as their retirement benefits would be at stake.

Also, various welfare measures enjoyed by the students would be withdrawn, the release added.
