Motor cycle rally to spread awareness on Tamil meet
Coimbatore: A 1,000-km motor cycle rally on the basis of Time-Speed-Distance organised by Ravi’s Hi-Rev Motor Sports Club will spread awareness on World Classical Tamil Conference to be held in June and also the highlight the significance of Tamil as a classical language and its importance.
T. Ravichandran who bagged the championship in the early 90s is conducting the event. P. Pynthamil Pari, Chairman of the Coimbatore Corporation’s South Zone, is one of the sponsors for the event.
The rally is being conducted as per the guidelines of the Federation of Motorsports Clubs of India. Mr.Pari flagged off the rally from VOC Park on Friday afternoon. Thirty participants will finish their first leg in Kodaikkanal on February 5.
They will leave Kodaikkanal on February 6 and reach Udhagamandalam and on February 7 they will leave Udhagamandalam and reach Coimbatore before 7 p.m. on February 7.
The route and starting point was informed to the participants only before the commencement of the rally.
The participants should proceed at not less than 45 kmph speed. Participants are from Erode, Coimbatore, Mysore and Kolkata and entries came in till February 3.
The first prize will be a TVS Apache RTR motorbike and total value of the prizes will be Rs. 2 lakh.
The participants sporting the World Classical Tamil Conference logo on their jackets will be spreading awareness on the conference and the classical status of the Tamil language by distributing pamphlets en route.
