COIMBATORE: The Competitive Examination Centre, Government Arts College, in collaboration with the Coimbatore Corporation organised a two-day coaching for candidates preparing for the interview of the civil services’ examination. A total of 11 candidates from various parts of Tamil Nadu who had cleared their preliminary examinations and were awaiting the results of the written examinations that took place in November 2009 attended the coaching. Since the focus was on the interview, the participants were divided into two groups and interviewed by two panels. Chaired by Anshul Mishra, Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner, the first panel included L. Balaji Saravanan, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore South, Mariam Sithik, Sajjan Kumar and Lalit Laxmi, civil servants, and P. Kanagaraj, co-ordinator of the centre. The second panel was chaired by C. Rajendiran, Chief Commissioner, Customs and Excise, and comprised Rohani Bhajbhakare, Prashant Wadnere, Poonam Guha, Ponni, civil servants, and Mani Chinnasamy, an industrialist from Pollachi. The simulated interview resembled the actual civil services’ examination interview of the Union Public Service Commission.
