COIMBATORE: A photo exhibition of various development works and welfare schemes for the people opened at the District Collector’s office on Sunday to mark the beginning of the Humanism Week that will be observed till January 31.

The Department of Information and Public Relations and the Department of Adi-Dravida and Tribal Welfare organised the exhibition.

A press release from the district administration said competitions in essay writing, oratory, dance and drama were held on January 25.

On Tuesday, students of Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya teamed up with the Department of Adi-Dravida and Tribal Welfare and carried out service activities under the National Service Scheme at Vivekanandapuram, an Adi-Dravida colony at Kuppichipalayam village.

Today, the Protection of Civil Rights Wing of the District Rural Police would conduct a programme at the Government Arts College.

Cultural events would be held on the fifth day for school and college students. Programmes at the District Industries Centre and the distribution of prizes for winners of competitions would mark the last two days, the release said.
