Free road safety learning centre for schoolchildren
Coimbatore: The Youth Task Force (YTF) in association with the Rotary Club of Coimbatore East, Rotary Club of Coimbatore Spectrum and Carmel Prayer tower has installed a free learning centre for educating the schoolchildren on road safety fundamentals.
Road safety week
S. Suresh, first volunteer and president of YTF said that the project is being initiated to mark the road safety week.
YTF would visit schools to teach on road safety using short films, slogans, technical content absolutely free of cost.
Objective
The objective is to ensure that the entire future generations are made sensible and sensitive to road rules and road safety.
The education service could be availed by the schools in any convenient form.
Sessions
It could be a 15 minute session during the prayer time where the entire school could be assembled or a 30 to 45 minute single class teaching session or it could be a one or two hour session in a huge hall with hundreds of students.
Inauguration
The first session was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic), N. Kamini recently at Carmel Prayer Tower, Jayasri Nagar, Singanallur, Coimbatore. Students from Perks School participated in the event.
YTF is looking for a qualified person to work full time so that the entire city could be enlightened with this life saving subject.
Accident victims would be given priority for joining YTF as a paid volunteer. YTF joined hands with the Transport Department and had conducted quiz programmes.
