Drive against bus drivers using cellphones
Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) authorities on Monday recovered 55 cellular phones from drivers who were found using them while on wheels.
Managing Director G. Paulraj and General Manager K. Chandramouli issued directions to all divisional and branch managers to monitor drivers using cellular phones while driving.
The travelling ticket examiners were also asked to conduct checks in this connection. Bus depots and bus stands were brought under surveillance by the TNSTC staff. In the drive till 2 p.m., as many as 55 cellular phones were seized.
Meanwhile, Deputy Transport Commissioner V. Vijayakumarasamy has directed the Regional Transport Officers, Motor Vehicle Inspectors to conduct surprise checks on private bus drivers using cellular phones while on wheels.
