Deadline for cables
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore Corporation has given a week's time for telephone, internet and satellite television channel services providers to shift their overhead cables underground.
Proposal
A press release issued by Corporation Commissioner Anshul Mishra said the Corporation had discussed this proposal at two meetings last year and decided to ask the service providers to shift the cables to underground ducts.
The Corporation had given a month's time to the service providers to shift the lines, but many were yet to do so.
Now, the Corporation wanted the lines shifted in a week.
if this deadline was not met by the service providers, the civic body would remove the lines.
Permission would not be provided to lay underground lines once the road works for the World Classical Tamil Conference were completed, the press release added.
