Dr. Ambedkar Self Employment Training Institute is a Canara Bank Sponsored institute to promote rural development and self employment in Coimbatore. Unemployed youth between 18-35 years, having aptitude and interest to be self employed and who have studied upto higher secondary level are eligible to join and benefit from.

The Institute serves as an institutional frame work for promotion of self-employment among scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. The Dr. Ambedkar Self Employment Training Institute was started in 1991 to focus on the development of SC/ST youth and women who are educationally and economically backward for guiding and training them in productive ventures.

The Dr. Ambedkar Self Employment Training Institute is located on 2.5 acres of land, at Pudupudur village, about 17 Kms from Coimbatore.

The Institute provides trainings in various skill-EDP activities for short term duration and also conducts night schools to coach poor boys and girls of the village. The youth club formed by the institute strives to promote leadership qualities among SC/ST youth.
